Media Center

Media Center News 2017-2018

This year, we will be without a media specialist in the library. Students will still be able to checkout books on a weekly basis during the tech special. The time in the media will be much shorter due to these staffing changes. Our district is going through major changes in the media center/library services area--we're adapting to these changes.

The same rules will apply when students are checking out books--kindergartners can get 1 book; students in 1st grade start out w/ 1 book, but gradually increase our standards for all other grade levels (3 books for checkout).

When students have overdue books, their rights to continue checking out are "paused" until they can settle their accounts.

Our Zen area has expanded to allow small groups of students to meet with assisting staff members for reading/literacy needs.

  • Just some reminders to students: Kindergarten can check out 1 book, 1st-5th grade can check out 3 items. If library materials aren't returned, a user's rights are paused until the issue is resolved. If books are lost, fines are assessed based on the cost to replace the material lost. Fines are paid for in the media center w/ cash only.
  • If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact Rick Weeks@303-364-8549, ext 23205 during school hours.
  • a great big thank you to the Home Depot--they provided paint sticks which students use when marking book locations on the shelves.

Please visit and support your local public libraries! The Martin Luther King Jr.branch is located at 9898 East Colfax Avenue
