Montview Math & Health Sciences Elementary

Message from Principal Heather Stewart

On December 4, 2019 we had over 140 people stop by to celebrate literacy with us! It was fantastic to come together as a united team to support our students. We had an opportunity to read with a stuffed animal, write, decorate cookies, sing and eat lots of good food. One of our goals this year is to provide more opportunities for families to engage and feel welcome at the school. We are excited to continue to build relationships with you all. We can’t wait for the next event! Please follow us on FACEBOOK (Montview Math & Health Sciences Elementary), Instagram @montviewmustang and Twitter @montviewmustang to stay informed. Our next parent coffee & SAC meeting is on January 14th @ 8:00. We hope you can make it.

One of our goals in the APS Strategic Plan is to ensure that each student has a plan for success in school. Each student in grades 1 through 12 create one of these plans. The plans start out small with students determining a goal and action steps for themselves and monitoring that goal through the year. As students get older the goal becomes a plan for college and career readiness. Our students at Montview have completed their plans for the 2019/2020 school year. Students have worked diligently on creating a goal that suits them right now. Please ask them about their goal. At Montview, we know there are different pathways for students in high school and after. We begin to explore different pathways in 5th grade. This year, our 5th grade students will have an opportunity to tour Pickens Technical High School, Community College of Aurora, and University of Colorado @ Boulder. It is always exciting to see students eyes light up with anticipation and realization that there is not only one pathway to success.

It is our hope that you all have a fun and safe winter break. Enjoy friends and family.

In Learning,

Heather Stewart
